Engagement day

A year ago today, my honey got on bended knee and asked me to marry him for time and all eternity in the exact same spot we first said we loved each other. It's been a wonderful year engaged/married to this man, and that will never change!

So today, Jer drove us to Arches National Park and we walked around and just took tons of pictures! It was so much fun, and a wonderful adventure day for our day off from school and work.

We saw Petroglyphs, and the 'Double Window', and most importantly on of the seven natural wonders of the world, the 'Delicate Arch'.

(see that little white dot under the arch in the left pic? That's my hubby)

It was amazing and mind boggling how big it is!

It's supposedly a 'hard' hike to Delicate Arch, but I really didn't think it was that bad. It's a 3 mile round-trip hike, but it was beautiful the whole way. The thing that was really surprising was that the entire hike you didn't see Delicate Arch at all, until you round the last bend and BAM! There it is. It was very enjoyable weather, and we even sat and looked at it with a couple from New York and chatted for about half an hour.

And of course we played around a bit with the rock formations.
Needless to say we had an absolute blast of an afternoon!

Day 2: Oh they say when you marry in June...

...You're a bride all your life.

My all time favorite musical song comes from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and it's absolutely perfect for my theme in life right now.

This is just a small clip of it...if you want a full version of the song go here.

I love love love this movie. I watched it as a little girl and it was always one of my favorites. I certainly hope to be a bride all my life, and remind Jer why he married me each day. I love that man so much! He has the most adorable baby pictures, he always looks so happy and I love it.

Today after taking the final for Book of Mormon, Mom and I headed down to Springville to take all the rest of my closet to the apartment, and then picked up my wedding dress...so its officially back!!!

On our way home we stopped by the Riverwoods mall and good news, Vicki's is having their Half Annual Yearly Sale. I took advantage of that and got one last piece of lingerie. I love lingerie!! Lingerie is just this new found experience that is so fun, that I've never been able to take part of, so I think that's why I'm so excited about it. Kind of like a child at Christmas, but better.

Then I did more thank you notes while Jared was out partying all night long at his second bachelor party.

Only two days left and life is good!!! Things are starting to wrap up. We're just dealing with last minute crisis's at this point, and surprisingly there are a lot of them...anyways wedding planning is almost completely done and finished. THANK GOODNESS! People seriously wonder why brides turn into bridezillas and its not hard to figure out once you consider how many people and their opinions you have to coordinate with. Even the event planners we deal with are opinionated and want things the way they're used to. But its almost done and I am VERY grateful!

Only 36 hours until I'm officially married!

Engaged

After eight months of dating, Jared proposed! I truthfully wasn't expecting it at all; Jared had convinced me that it wouldn't happen for another couple months, which made it that much more of a shock.
Jer asked me if I would like to go to temple square today after church and walk around, and I agreed because the weather was so nice. When we got there we stopped to talk to some sister missionaries, and then started walking around the grounds. There were some random people in normal clothes walking around all bundled up and we were pretty absorbed in our own little world, so I didn't notice my parents hiding poised with cameras.
We started to walk around to the east side of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which has a great deal of significance for us. It actually is where we first said we loved each other, and how fitting he brought me back to this personal place to do such a personal thing.

He stopped right in front of a bench and jokingly said, "Why don't we just get married already?" to which I responded, "Well if you'd just propose already..." He then gently sat me down and handed me a ring of three antique looking keys with a blue ribbon attached

and then started to talk...it all became a blur as soon as he got down on his knee, but he told me afterwards that he said, "These keys represent love, sacrifice, and trust, and they symbolize the keys to my heart". He then told me to pull the blue ribbon out of his pocket until I reached the other end which is where the ring was.

He took it off the ribbon and then asked me to marry him. I of course said yes!
The wedding will be June 16th exactly one year after we met, with the reception on the 17th! I can't wait to marry my best friend and the man of my dreams!!!
