Prepping for the weekend

This weekend sure is going to be crazy busy! We've got a shooting/smores date tonight, I've got the semi-annual girls party Saturday, and a few couples over for Cafe Rio sunday dinner at our apartment and I'm cooking the pork and dessert. Oh goodness, I bit off a bit more than I can chew!

Yes, that's a hat box. Cute huh?!

P.S. Check out my totally gorgeous wrapping of my Girl's Party white elephant present. And no, I can't tell you what it is since a couple of the ladies that attend read this blog. So you'll have to wait with baited breath. Do you think you would fight for this present over the others based off its wrapping? I do have to say that I put a LOT of effort into the wrapping of my present this party. For my very first Girl's Party two years ago I wrapped it in newspaper! Needless to say, no one really fought for my present as the more intricate the wrapping, the more desirable the present is.

Puppy Size

One of the things I had forgotten about having a little puppy - amongst the frequent toileting issues and the teething - is their incessant desire to tunnel and explore every little space. She loves to find her own little play spaces under the bed and couch. Of course she's growing at an alarming pace and won't be able to fit much longer. But its still cute to watch her play. Can you imagine how the world looks through their eyes, everything is bigger then they and everything is new and different. No wonder they get into so much trouble! But we still love and adore her, she's going to be a wonderful dog when she's all grown up.

Tunneling under the couch. She normally naps down there.
Cleaning the floors for the local Petco. No kibble left under the shelves after our visit.
inspecting my empty chip bag-but it got stuck on her head

Sisterly love

P.S. I had forgotten how much puppies slept, it really is like having a baby-parenting practice for sure.

Dreaming of Gardens

I like to fancy myself as a rather adept green thumb, if you couldn't tell from my coming out of the closet announcement. Once thing I'm super overjoyed about, is my vegetable that actually have flourished since my seed garden.

Doesn't that just make you happy? I can't wait for the day when I have my own private porch or (gasp!) backyard even! What will I do with all that space? Plants loads of peony bushes, tall glorious trees, and a strawberry patch.

My newly planted raspberry bushes, strawberry plants, and tomato plants

Let's be honest, what childhood memory do you have that doesn't include a great big tree? I swear I was part monkey the way I climbed in my tree house and read books in the swing. Wouldn't you love to be seven to eight again? I would.

More tomato plants, we love our tomato's!

Its all worked out, but only because we've got such an understanding landlord. Thank goodness he doesn't care! What summer activities are you looking forward to? Gardening?

Puppy kisses and cuddles

Oh my goodness gracious, I cannot get enough of these. little. lips. Whenever I pick up miss little Aspen she gives a little grunt, I make a kiss noise and she immediately gives me some licks. I imagine someday I'll be this completely captivated by baby kisses too. But for now, I'll have to make due with puppy kisses. She also lets me cuddle her like a baby which goes perfect with our new rocker.

Long story behind that one. Let's just say it was a killer deal I found online as a present for a soon-to-be momma, and then AFTER I'd bought and cleaned it she informed me her baby's grandma had already taken care of that. And since it's so stinking comfy (Jared loves it) we'll keep it.

It's been hard on Adi having a little stinker stealing her spotlight, but I still give lots of kisses as well and some momma-daughter time each day by taking her on my runs. Watch out, I'm sure my dog could outrun a long distance runner!
